My first attempt at seriously doing watercolor in this particular sketchbook…It’s been rather frustrating because I typically use 300lb hot press paper when I do my watercolor pieces. This didn’t turn out too terribly but the paper did pull up and get pulpy because of the water, though this is a watercolor sketchbook. Frustrating, but I’m just going to have to change my technique a bit. I might transfer some of these onto my usual paper because I am more comfortable with it, and it’s smooth so doesn’t pull up with my strokes. But I rather like the pencil & watercolor style, and I think tracing it would just not be the same, so for now, here’s this attempt. I may even try this piece again transferred, but I need a break.
Sorry for the text block.

Hoatzin
Pen and ink with watercolor/gouache
A painting I never finished in high school. I did the head, and was so afraid that the body wouldn’t turn out as good, that I just gave up.

Here’s another painting studio painting; Again, no photo editting software right now, so sorry it’s a little dark.
I’m going to do a New Year’s Painting today (woo!), so I’ll put that up later day or tomorrow!
Let’s hit the ground running this year.Posted on January 18, 2013 via Leafs with 57 notes
